Joao’s story

When you start a new job in another country, it’s normal to feel nervous. Everything is different and new. The language, the culture, the people. But with the right support, this big step can become the start of something amazing.
We’d like to introduce you to Joao Mota, one of the people who made this choice. Today, Joao works as an assistant team leader in the order picking department at Udea. His role is important. He makes sure the team has everything they need to do their work well and reach the right standards.
But Joao’s story didn’t start there. His first job was as an order picker in the same department. With hard work, and the right help, he has grown!
Alone, but not lonely
Joao moved to the Netherlands on his own, without friends or family. That can be difficult, but HOBIJ was there to help. “When I started here, I didn’t come with friends or family. And I felt that HOBIJ provided me with all the tools I needed to find my way.”
From housing to transport and from questions to practical problems, Joao always had someone to rely on. “They helped me with everything. Getting to work, finding a house, and answering every question or solving every issue I had. I could always reach out to HOBIJ. They picked up the phone and treated me like a friend.”
